Childhood cerebellar astrocytoma presenting with hemorrhage

M. Harold Fogelson, M.D., Ronald E. Oppenheim, M.D. and Robert L. McLaurin, M.D.

University Affiliated Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disorders, Departments of Pediatrics, Neurology (Drs. Fogelson and Oppenheimer) and Neurosurgery (Dr. McLaurin), Children's Hospital Medical Center and University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH.

A cerebellar astrocytoma presented with acute intracranial hemorrhage. Computerized tomography and vertebral arteriography defined the tumor and the vascular supply. The tumor was successfully removed. It is important to select the appropriate diagnostic studies so that the rare intracranial hemorrhage masking a brain tumor can be delineated.
