MRI of cerebral vein thrombosis in infancy

A case report

Departments of Neurosciences (Drs. Hanigan and McLean) and Pediatrics (Dr. Rossi), University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, and the Department of Medical Imaging (Dr. Wright), Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

We diagnosed primary idiopathic cerebral vein thrombosis in an infant by MRI. The relative noninvasiveness of the scan, ease of imaging in multiple planes, and good image resolution suggest that the scan may be useful in this disorder.
