Cerebrospinal fluid findings in healthy siblings of multiple sclerosis patients

Pierre Duquette, MD and Louise Charest, MSc

Hôpital Notre-Dame, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, Montréal, Québec, Canada.

We studied six families in which two or more siblings were affected by MS. CSF analysis was available on 37 subjects: 9 with MS and 28 healthy siblings. Five of 28 healthy siblings (17.8%) had abnormal CSF immunoglobulins. These findings affect family studies of MS.
