Dr. Sima I. Patel is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Minnesota. She completed her education at the University of Illinois Urbana - Champaign, Rush Medical College, Medical College of Wisconsin Neurology residency, and Epilepsy fellowship at Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Patel is an epileptologist with an interest in the treatment of medically refractory epilepsy, management of epilepsy during pregnancy, and epilepsy surgery. Additionally, she is dedicated to gender equity work and advancement for women in medicine through multiple local and national projects. Her two daughters are her strongest inspiration to create change. Currently, she is actively involved with the University of Minnesota Center for Women in Medicine and Science, American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) Gender Equity Committee, Vice-Chair of Epilepsy at American Academy of Neurology (AAN), and multiple research projects on gender equity. In her personal time, she enjoys new adventures with her daughters.
